%!&&@ please... Well, you can't say it's not getting attention. That's the whole purpose, right? Attention that will hopefully turn into ratings. If that is the goal here then mission accomplished. If you wanted to provide some more unrelatable characters to the (obviously not annoying enough) reality show soup, then "bravo". But if the intent of this show was to educate people on what it's like to live Islam as an American.... Epic fail. Other Muslim critics of the show have already beat me in expressing outrage at |

Abu Talha Dawood Burbank's Islamic translations are perhaps the most widely circulated titles amongst the English speaking world.
Br. Abu Talha Dawood Burbank, one of the pioneers of the call to Ahl us Sunnah in the West and the translator of the most widely circulated books amongst the new generation of studious Muslims, has died. Posts on various Salafi forums have been releasing details as they become available. According to what has come to us thus far, both Abu Talha and his wife (while on route to Makkah to perform Hajj) were on a bus that caught fire, and both of them were killed in the fire. The post gives some solace to the reader by quoting the glad tidings that Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wassallam) said: |

Do most Muslims believe you can be granted eternal paradise based upon good deeds alone? Know, may Allah open your hearts to guidance, that Allah has not created us and this life that we witness for sport and play, but rather he has created this brief lifespan of ours to test which one of us is best in deed. Allah says: Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving. (Surah Al-Mulk:2) And He has prepared a noble reward: An expansive paradise underneath which rivers flow, for those who believe and strive hard in righteous deeds. There can be no doubt that those who strove hardest with faith and good deeds after the prophets are the companions of the prophet (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) Allah chose them to accompany the prophet because He liked what was in their hearts of noble characteristics. Not only because of their belief and sincerity not only because of their obedience to the prophet (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ) they also used to have hearts filled with fear and hope. |

Are we using our brains to their full potential?
At the close of Ramadan, the month of the Quran we all must have come face to face with a hafidh of Quran. (someone whose memorized the entire Quran word for word.) This must have gotten some of us to start thinking, "Can I do that?" Is there something I can do to increase my brain's power to memorize? How can I condition my mind to retain more of what I learn? Well, if you haven't thought about this I have. So I decided to sit down with an expert on the brain and get some of these answers for myself.

Fatwa-Online was informed of the official decision and announcement of the High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia that since the moon of Ramadhaan was not sighted last evening, in Saudi Arabia, they will be completing thirty (30) days of Sha'ban (1432 A.H.
Religious committees in Egypt have released a similar statement. No religious bodies in the United States or elsewhere have reported a confirmed moonsighting.
Therefore, in most of the world first fast of Ramadhaan will be on Monday 1 August 2011, insha Allah.
American Muslims Today wishes you and yours a very blessed Ramadan this year.

Muslim haters are in damage control mode after the carnage in Norway
American anti-Islam bloggers aren’t to blame for the Norway Massacre. But their response to the attacks is nonetheless revealing, in that they are now demanding the kind of nuanced analysis of the Norway shootings that they’ve always failed to offer when implicating jihadism or all Muslims for terror attacks. |
